The day my first book arrived.

 Here is how it began

All summer long I’d worked on this project, approving sketches and then coloured illustrations, debating about word placement and blurbs.  And then it was finally here!  The funny thing is, I wasn’t even here when it arrived.  I was headed to a 2 day conference (my first speaking engagement!) and I knew it was coming Friday. I waited as long as I could before finally heading to the conference, so naturally it arrived shortly thereafter.  My kids and my husband (and my extended family too, actually) had seen me poring over the drawings all summer long and they had been actively engaged in telling me what they liked and what they thought was funny. (my 8 year old took great joy from telling me his opinions. The character in this book is named after him, and he loves that.)  They all really feel like this book is a part of them, too, after helping me make decisions all summer.  So naturally when it arrived, a simple enough looking package from Amazon, they KNEW what it was, and they HAD to open it!  I had to ask my husband to repeat himself when they told me they’d opened it while I was away!  By the time I got back home they’d taped it all back up so I wouldn’t notice – ha.  Right.

I knew shortly afterward that I had to do something to share with other people just like me how to publish their stories.  To help make other writer’s dreams come true.  And that is how the Plan to Published course was born!
